To receive mail via Mozilla Thunderbird, enable POP3 or IMAP protocol in your mailbox settings. Configuring IMAP protocol Launch the program and click Skip this and use my existing email in the welcome screen. Enter the following account details in the Configure mail account window: Your name– username (for example, “James Kirk”) Email address — your yandex email address (for example, “capt.kirk@yandex.ru”) Password – your Yandex password (or the application password if you enabled two-factor authentication) Click Continue. Click the Manual setup button and enter the following parameters for the mail servers: Incoming mail Protocol — IMAP Server name — imap.yandex.ru Port — 993 SSL — SSL/TLS Authentication – Normal password Outgoing mail Server name — smtp.yandex.ru Port — 465 SSL — SSL/TLS Authentication – Normal password Also type username: your username in Yandex, for example, “capt.kirk”. Attention. If you configure receiving mail from a mailbox like “username@yandex.ru”, then specify the part of the address before the @ sign in the “Username” field. Click Re-test to verify that the entered details are correct. If the test was successful, click Done. Synchronize the newly created account with the server to obtain a list of folders. Right-click the account name and choose Settings. Go to Server settings and in When I delete a message, select Move to deleted items folder. Go to Copies and folders and enter your Yandex mailbox name for all the folders. Click OK to apply the changes and restart the program. Steps to Configure Yandex.Mail with Mozilla Thunderbird: 1.) Open Mozilla Thunderbird program on your computer and click on the option – Skip this and use my existing email on the welcome screen. 2.) Enter the following details in the Mail Account Setup window in appropriate fields. Your Name: Enter your username Email Address: Enter your completer Yandex email address Password: Enter password for your Yandex account Once you are done entering the above details, click on the Continue button. 3.) Now, click on the Manual config option and enter the below-mentioned inputs for the mail servers: Incoming mail Protocol: IMAP Server Name:yandex.ru Port: 993 SSL: SSL/TLS Authentication: Normal password Outgoing mail Server Name:yandex.ru Port: 465 SSL: SSL/TLS Authentication: Your usual password Also, you will need to provide your username. For that, enter your username in Yandex. NOTE: In case you are configuring receiving an email from a mailbox such as username@yandex.ru, then, you will need to enter the credential before the @symbol in the Username field. 4.) Next, you will need to click on the Re-test option to make sure that you have provided the correct details in above steps. When the test gets successful, click on the Done button. 5.) Now, you will need to synchronize the newly created account with the server to access a list of folders. So, right click on the account name option and select Settings. 6.) Next, click on the Server Settings option and select Move to deleted item folder under option When I delete a message. 7.) Then, open Copies and folders option and enter your Yandex mailbox name for all the folders. 8.) After that, click on the OK button to apply the changes made and restart Thunderbird. Now you can start accessing your Yandex.Mail messages on your Thunderbird program.
